Cornhole League Rules

THE FORMAT

SEASON MATCH FORMAT:
Each matchup will consist of 3 games, no matter what. Each game will be played to 21 points or 20 minutes, whichever comes first. If you go over 21, that’s okay, just finish the round. At the end of the night, you’ll report how many of the 3 games your team won. This is not best of three. You will always play all 3 games.

PLAYOFFS MATCH FORMAT:
During playoffs, matches are best of 3 out of 5 games, each match must be completed within 20 minutes. 2 players toss per game. The winner of the matches will be whichever team scores 21 points first, or whichever team has more points at the end of 20 minutes.

FOR BOTH SEASON + PLAYOFFS:
A Quick game of ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ before each match will determine which cornhole team has the honors of tossing first. Cornhole players will take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points.
Teams can alternate players between games. There are no co-ed minimums, i.e. teams can be all male, all female, or co-ed.

GAME SCORING:

  • The score shall be taken after all cornhole bags have been thrown for a round.
  • Points shall be given as follows:
  • 3 points for a cornhole bag that goes through the hole.
  • 1 point for a cornhole bag that is on the playing surface.
  • 1 point for a cornhole bag that is hanging into the hole.
  • 1 point for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the edge but not touching the ground.
  • 0 points for a cornhole bag that is on the playing surface, but also touching the ground.
  • 0 points for a cornhole bag that is hanging off the front edge and is resting on a cornhole bag that is on the ground (unless the cornhole bag on the ground can be removed without making the hanging bag fall to the ground, then one point is given).
  • The cornhole team with the highest round score, adds the difference of the two scores to their game score. (for example If Team A scores 5 Points, and Team B scores 3 Points; Team A will add 2 Points to the scoreboard)
