Singles Bouldering Night

We’re taking over Sender One Westwood for a night of bouldering and matchmaking. Over the course of the evening, you’ll climb with three different groups of singles, with each group selected by our matchmaking system based on compatibility.

Between attempts, there’s plenty of time to talk, cheer someone on, compare climbing strategies, and learn that a person’s approach to a wall can reveal quite a bit about them (we might be making this last part up).

No climbing experience is necessary. Sender One will teach everyone the basics before the first round, and the gym has climbs designed for a range of skill levels. You’ll get a little workout in, meet a lot of new people, and perhaps leave with a reason to see one of them again.

ABOUT SENDER ONE WESTWOOD

Sender One Westwood is a 10,000-square-foot, bouldering-only climbing gym in the heart of Westwood. That means no ropes, harnesses, or belaying. Climbs are marked by difficulty, so beginners can start with something approachable while more experienced climbers can find a proper challenge.

The setup also makes bouldering surprisingly social: climb for a few minutes, spend a few on the mats, repeat. Conveniently, the mats are also where everyone else is hanging out.

HOW TO PREPARE

• Register + complete your profile. You’ll answer a short set of questions that our matchmaking system will use to build your groups.
• Sign the Sender One waiver. Complete it before the event to make check-in easier.
• Dress to move. Wear clothes you’d feel comfortable working out and climbing in.
• Arrive at 7 PM. We have a full evening planned.

EVENT AGENDA

• 7:00 PM | Check-In
  
  • Find the event host to check into the matchmaking system, then head to the Sender One team to check into the gym and grab climbing shoes if you need them.
• 7:20 PM | Bouldering Orientation
  
  • Sender One’s team will cover the basics: how to navigate the gym, how to identify different climbing levels by color, and how to climb and fall safely. No prior experience required.
• 7:30 PM | Group Climbs Begin!
  
  • Our system will introduce you to three different groups of singles throughout the night. Groups are based on compatibility, so you’ll be climbing alongside people you already have a few things in common with. Then it’s up to you and the wall.
• 8:45 PM | Free Climb
  
  • The assignments end here. Keep climbing, find someone you want a little more time with, or call it a night. You’ll also get access to the full guest list from the event. Add a heart next to anyone you’d like to see again. If they heart you too, we’ll send the match that night.
