9 New Sports to Try This Summer

6.4.25

Roller Hockey

Location: North Hollywood

Dust off those roller blades in the back of your closet and glide into a roller hockey team at “The Cage” roller rink. The league offers divisions for different levels of experience so even if you’ve never played you can shamelessly fumble your way around the rink with other beginners. If you’re too free a bird to join a team, check out an all-level pickup game organized every Sunday.

You know golf? Imagine that but with frisbees, low-cost and a younger crowd, and you’ve got disc golf. Pasadena is home to the world’s very first permanent disc golf course, Oak Grove, which is still active. Check out their course and club, which hosts events nearly every day. If you’re more of a loner, just grab a disc and head to one of the other courses around the county.
