Redz Angels

Where: Boyle Heights

When: Fri-Sun

Probably one of the oldest and least known gay bars in Los Angeles, Redz Angels (formerly: Redz, Reds, and originally, Redheads) got a reputation as a Latina lesbian hangout way back in the 1950s. It’s the definition of a “locals” neighborhood spot with an unassuming facade and just enough square footage for weekly bilingual drag shows.

Them Fatale and Dapper Puss Entertainment

Where: Varies

When: Varies

The drag kings (and things) are few and far between compared to the queens, but you’ll find dedicated performers at Them Fatale and Dapper Puss Entertainment, two organizations that organize performances every month or so at various locations around LA. These folks do as fabulous a job at creating an inclusive space as they do performing, so give the kings and things some love and don’t miss their upcoming shows!

When the bar has been open since 1990, you know it’s gotta be good. At legendary New Jalisco Bar, which caters to the Latinx LGBTQ+ community, you’ll find weekly drag shows including some inspired by traditional Mexican folk dances. These aren’t for the prudish among us, though - this venue is also known for its strip shows, so you might see some tush along the way.
