10.13.26

Spooky season reminds us that we actually love a fright, so we’ve rounded up year-round spots perfect for horror-lovers.
- Horror Vibes Coffee
- North Hollywood
- The vibes are, indeed, horrifying at this horror-themed hole-in-the-wall coffee shop. Immerse yourself in an impressive amount of horror fan art along every wall while you peruse the menu with drinks like the “Carrie White Mocha.”
- Killer Fitness
- Burbank
- As niche as can be, this 80s/horror-themed fitness gym somehow pulls it all together. Between fitness classes like “Fight Like a Final Girl,” killer (pun intended) merch, and frequent special events like movie screenings, there’s really no reason not to check it out.
- Sugarmynt Gallery
- South Pasadena
- Located next door to the Michael Myers house from the original 1978 Halloween movie, this art gallery embraces the spirit of year-r ound Halloween. The gallery features rotating exhibits along with permanent Michael Myers and Hocus Pocus sections, and also hosts special events like movie screenings and seasonal Halloween filming locations walking tours.
- 1984 Vintage & Horror
- San Fernando
- Exactly as the name suggests, this small vintage shop specializes in everything ‘80s including the decade’s heyday of horror. It’s not just for shopping, though! This spot hosts horror-themed trivia nights and screenings for fellow horror-lovers.
- Slasher World
- Fairfax
- This little storefront is a mix of store, photo op, and event venue - all committed to cult horror movies. Between the giant Freddy’s hand reaching out of the wall to the Slashback Video immersive experience in the back, it’s definitely worth a visit. They even host events like horror-themed comedy and horror-lover mixers.
- The VHS Society
- Varies
- In this case, VHS is not what you think - it stands for Variety Horror Screenings, and it is exactly what it sounds like! The VHS Society is a movie club that gathers monthly for exclusively horror screenings, including films, shorts, music videos, and more. There are even horror-themed vendors, trivia, and the like at every event!
- Horror Boo-dega
- Burbank
- You heard it right! This is a horror-themed bodega where you can find spooky snacks, candy, and other treats along with a few great photo ops. It’s newly home to a Deadly Sweet Co fridge stocked with slasher cakes. There’s even a photo booth to commemorate your visit!
- The Basement
- Sylmar
- This is not your typical escape room! The Basement is a frightful immersive escape room featuring live actors to scare your socks off. Their four horror-themed experiences are centered around the world of fictional serial killer Edward Tandy. Any one of them is sure to chill you to your bones and challenge your survival skills.
- Mystic Museum
- Burbank
- With three front rooms dedicated to oddities and spooky retail and back rooms home to rotating immersive horror exhibits, not to mention several photo ops throughout, the Mystic Museum is securely a top spot for lovers of horror and the macabre. As if they weren’t doing enough, the space also hosts occasional events like horror prom and paranormal investigations.
- Zombie Joe’s
- North Hollywood
- This experimental live-theatre venue centers humor, horror, and the bizarre in their shows. Most of their productions have an element of “horror,” although some lean more into comedy. Their most popular, of course, are their Halloween-season events, particularly Urban Death Tour, but you can check out their unique productions any time of year!
- Museum of Death
- Hollywood
- Not for the faint of heart, this museum explores the darker side of human history through a collection of serial killer memorabilia, antique mortuary equipment, skulls, and graphic crime scene photography. It's a fascinating (and often deeply disturbing) look at death and the macabre, with plenty of exhibits you won't soon forget.
- Medieval Torture Museum
- Hollywood
- If fictional horror isn't enough for you, this museum explores some of the very real horrors of human history. With over 100 reconstructed torture devices, gruesome wax figures, and interactive exhibits, you'll get an unsettling look at how people were punished throughout history. Your ticket also includes an audio guide and an interactive ghost-hunting experience, because apparently medieval torture wasn't disturbing enough on its own.
- The Horror Show at the Academy Museum
- Miracle Mile
- The Academy Museum is giving horror its long-overdue close-up with an exhibition dedicated to more than a century of scary movies. Featuring original props, costumes, film clips, and immersive installations, The Horror Show explores how filmmakers have been terrifying audiences for generations. It's on view through July 25, 2027, so there's plenty of time to visit after Halloween.
